XP Antispyware 2010 Removal Instructions
XP Antispyware 2010 is a rogue antivirus tool which installs itself on your PC and proceeds to try and con you into buying the “full upgrade” of the software. Like many other rogue antivirus programs, this tool is highly aggressive and takes control of many parts of your computer system, trying to get you to buy the software. It also posts a series of ‘false positives’ which basically means that the virus will display “errors” on your system that don’t even exist, just to scare you into purchasing the tool.
Where Does XP Antispyware 2010 come from?
XP Antispyware 2010 is installed through the help of “Trojan Horse” viruses. These are small applications which attach themselves onto legitimate programs that you will install yourself, and gain access to your PC through your trusting of these other programs. The most common point of entry for this virus is to show a “fake security scan” website – where it will display an image of “My Computer” with a series of errors indicated in a variety of your hard drives. It will then ask you if you want to clean the errors, and clicking “yes” will simply load the virus onto your PC.

What This Removal Process Does:
Kills Processes
- av.exe
You should open up the “Task Manager” by clicking CTRL + ALT + DEL and then click on the “Processes” tab. This will then display a list of running processes, where you should then be able to find the listed files above. Removes Directories
- %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\av.exe
