How To Repair AdvrCntr.dll Errors
AdvrCntr.dll and the AdvrCntr module are included in the CD/DVD buring software package made by Ahead software, commonly known as Nero. Nero is one of the most popular CD/DVD burning software manufacturers. The AdvrCntr.dll file is pivotal to the running of the Nero software, so any error will prevent the user from accessing the software or running it. This error therefore can be very irritating so follow the steps below to fix this error.
What Causes AdvrCntr.dll Errors?
When attempting to run the Nero software, you may have experienced this error message:
AdvrCntr.dll cannot be found
This program requires the file advrcntr.dll, which was not found on this system.
This error message can occur due to a number of problems. Nero may not have installed correctly during the last installation, or may have been ended abruptly (such as a power cut). If the user has updated Nero recently, the old files may be conflicting with the new files and this could cause the error. There could be problems with the actual file which can be replaced. These problems can be easily solved by following the steps below.
Step 1- Repair The Installation Of Nero
This is a good way of making sure the installation of Nero is clean and working correctly. Repairing the installation rewrites over all the files and rewrites the registry keys. This will make sure the AdvrCntr.dll file is correctly registered within the system and that the error will hopefully not appear again. Repairing the installation is easy, following these steps:
- Click Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
- Find Nero or Ahead Software in the list
- Uninstall the software
- Navigate to the Nero directory that it was present in. Make sure that the old folder is deleted along with any left over contents that may have remained.
- Restart your PC
- Install Nero again. It is recommended that you install the latest version to make sure that you do not have to update the same error re appears.
- Run Nero
These steps are just a guide but it should help resolve the issue. Nero will be completely eradicated from the system so a clean installation can occur, where the dll files will not conflict with any other files. Making sure you have the latest Nero installed in the clean install is vital as it will add the newest files that may be fixed so they do not produce this error again. If this did not work, carry on to the next step.

Step 3 – Clean Out Viruses
Antivirus programs are software tools which scan through your PC and remove any of the viruses or malware infections that are on your system. It’s often the case that viruses will infect various DLL files on your computer and then cause them to be unreadable to your PC. To ensure this is not happening on your computer, you should try using an antivirus program to scan through your system and remove any of the infections that cause all these errors. You can download our recommended antivirus program from the link above, but there are a large variety of programs available.
Step 4 – Clean Out The Registry
– Download This Registry Cleaner
Another big cause of the advrcntr.dll errors is the registry database of Windows. The “registry” is a central database which stores all the settings, information and options for your computer, and is where Windows keeps many vital settings that it requires to run. It’s often the case that a lot of registry settings become damaged and corrupted, leading your PC to take longer to run, making it run slower and with a lot of errors. To fix this problem, you should use a ‘registry cleaner’ to scan through your PC and fix any of the damaged or corrupt settings that are inside it. You can see our recommended registry cleaner below:
