LibXML2.dll Error Fix Guide
LibXML2.dll is a file that’s used as a “library” for the XML (Extensible Markup Language) of your PC, and is therefore a vital component of the likes of programming interface applications (like Visual Studio), as well as a number of web browsers. If you’re receiving errors with libXML2.dll, it suggests that your PC either has some sort of problem with the location of this file, or with your system’s inability to properly read the settings / options that it will have inside. Fortunately, you can fix most cases of libXML2.dll errors by first ensuring the software that uses the file is okay, and then that your PC has all the correct settings that are required to help it run.
What Causes LibXML2.dll Errors
The typical cause of these errors is actually down to the way in which Windows will not be able to load up the file. However, other problems that include the likes of viruses infecting your PC, and Windows being unable to read the settings required to run the file, will also contribute to the errors. Usually, the problems you’re experiencing are caused through no fault of your own, and can be resolved fairly easily.
How To Fix LibXML2.dll Errors
Step 1 – Re-Install The Application Causing The Error
The first thing that’s required of you is to re-install the program that’s causing the error. This is typically done by following the steps outlined here:
- Click “Start”
- Click “Control Panel”
- Click “Uninstall A Program” (Win 7) / “Add / Remove Programs” (XP)
- Locate The Program Causing The Error
- Click “Remove”
- Restart Your PC
- Re-Install The Program
- See If It Works Again
This will replace any of the corrupted or damaged parts of the software, which should allow your PC to read the files that it requires to run it again. Although this should work for most people, it’s often the case that there will be another cause of problems that can lead the error to show.
Step 2 – Manually Replace LibXML2.dll On Your PC
Manually replacing the ceutil.dll file is probably be the best way to repair the error. You need to obtain a fresh copy of the dll file and register it onto your Windows system. Follow these steps to resolve the error:
- Download libxml2.dll from the Internet
- Save the libxml2.dll file onto your computer’s hard drive
- Browse to c:\Windows\System32
- Locate the current libxml2.dll on your system
- Rename the current libxml2.dll to libxml2BACKUP.dll
- Copy & paste the new libxml2.dll into C:\Windows\System32
- Click Start > Run (Or search ”run” on Vista & Win7)
- Type “cmd” in the box that appears
- Type “regsvr32 libxml2.dll” on the black screen
- Press Enter
Step 3 – Clean Out The Registry
The final step is to clean out the “registry” of your PC. This is where all Windows computers store their most important settings, options, files and information that your computer will try and use to run. With settings such as your desktop wallpaper, most recent emails and even your passwords stored inside the registry, it’s a very important part of your system. The only problem, however, is that this is continually becoming corrupted, which leads your PC to show random errors such as the “libXML2.dll” error. In order to resolve this problem, it’s highly recommended that you use a registry cleaner to fix any of the potential problems that this part of your PC may have. We recommend a tool called “RegAce System Suite“.
