How To Fix The 0x0000002E Error & Prevent It Recurring
The 0x0000002E error is a “Blue Screen” error. These errors originate when there is a fault in the hardware or software within Windows. This error is most associated with faulty hardware, such as RAM. RAM modules can cause this error as they cannot load data on to them as others do. This error can also be caused by software problems, such as Windows becoming outdated.
What Causes The 0x0000002E Error?
The error will be displayed on the blue screen as:
STOP: 0x0000002E (parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4)
DATA_BUS_ERROR
where the “parameter” means:
- Parameter 1 displays the virtual address due to which the fault occurred
- Parameter 2 displays the physical address due to which the fault occurred
- Parameter 3 depicts Processor Status Register (PSR)
- Parameter 4 depicts Faulting Instruction Register (FIR)
This error can be caused by faulty hardware. The solution to this would be to remove any hardware that you have recently installed as this could be causing the problem. It could be that an old piece of hardware is faulty however, so always listen out for tell tale signs that your hardware is broken, such as strange noises. Alternatively, it could be a software problem and Windows itself may need updating for the error message to stop appearing.
How To Fix The 0x0000002E Error
Step 1 – Remove Any New Hardware From Your PC
As explained before, the 0x0000002E error can be caused by faulty hardware. To solve this, you must remove any hardware that has recently been installed, or was installed before the error appeared and the error surfaced afterwards. This way, it removes the ambiguity between hardware that is working correctly and faulty hardware. You should always check the serial offenders for these types of errors: RAM, Grahpics Cards (RAM on graphics cards), Hard disks and other more minor peripherals. Always make sure your computer is turned off before attempting to remove hardware and that you know how to remove it safely and reinstall it correctly, if it is not faulty.
Step 2 – Update Windows
Windows requires continuous updates to maintain its functionality. Any additional software is always designed around the latest Windows updates. This means that if Windows is not kept up to date, then it could cause Windows to become “confused”, when it attempts to carry out operations for software that expect it to attempt it an alternative way. You can easily update Windows, either by visiting the Microsoft Windows Update Website, or by running the Windows update application.
Step 3 – Ensure All Hardware Is Working Correctly
Hardware can become fatigued after use and can cause the 0x0000002E error. If you have completed step 1 successfully and cannot find any new hardware which may have caused the error, and step 2 has not solved the problem, it could well be that you are running faulty hardware. It is always hard to distinguish between healthy hardware and faulty hardware. You should always listen out for abnormal sounds, such as a clicking sound, which could demonstrate something is not working as it should. If you do hear a sound, it will be from hardware that is moving, such as a hard disk or fans. Make sure all your hardware is plugged in correctly and in the right slots. You could try changing the hardware around and try different slots, this may give you an indication that there is something wrong with the motherboard.
Step 4 – Clean Out The Registry
– Download this registry cleaner
You should also clean out the ‘registry’ of your PC with a registry cleaner tool. The registry is a database which stores vital information, settings and options for your system, and is where Windows & all your software programs keep valuable data that your PC requires to run. Unfortunately, it’s also one of the biggest causes of errors because it’s continually being saved in the wrong way, making many of its settings corrupt and unreadable. In order to fix this problem, it’s advisable you use a registry cleaner program to fix any errors that could be causing problems inside this database. You can download these tools from the Internet, and you can also see our recommended cleaner below:
